This is just more of a FYI on a best practices for how to submit bugs to the devs. Including these kinds of information is really helpful for the devs to track down and squash bugs!
Be As Specific As Possible
When describing a problem please try to be as specific as possible. “It doesn’t work” isn’t super helpful. But even something like “The terminal on the space station by the cafe looks weird” is helpful too. Try to describe as much detail as you can.
Screenshots are Really Useful
Words suck! But pictures don’t lie (usually). It’s great to describe things in detail, but a screenshot makes things a lot more clearer too. Especially when talking about thing in a specific location. If its relevant try submitting screenshots of your issue. Again super helpful in tracking down stuff, as well as making things a lot easier to communicate visually
Reproduction Steps If Possible
Some bugs might be transient but most bugs are generally reproducible. If you can try to provide a step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce your issue. And here, MORE is BETTER. The more steps and more accurate these are, the better. Screenshots are great for this kind of thing too. Even if its just a vague recollection of what you did, that can be helpful too.
Submit Save and Debug Logs
If the game crashes or you have a save game that has a reproducable problem make sure you submit those as well. You can find them in
\steamapps\common\Objects in Space\ObjectsInSpace\
The save file will be called objectsXX.sav where XX is the save file from 01-03
The debug logs is called DebugLog_Game.txt
Where Should I Send Bug Report?
Please submit bugs to the email address
Where Should I Send General Feedback?
Feedback can be sent on the forums here! You can also send an email to email@example.com.
Patience Is Key In Space
The devs obviously are very appreciative of everyone’s efforts and feedback. The game is in beta and thus bugs, crashes, etc are inevitable. They’re a small team so they’re doing their utmost best to get around to addressing everyone’s bugs, feedback, etc. While bugs and crashes can be frustrating, please be patient with the devs. Rest assured they’re reading everything and fixing things as fast as humanly possible.
Everyone has the same goal, to make a great and awesome game. Lets all work together to help out.
