Hi, and thanks for answering my questions.
As far as I'm concerned, a faux-rogue mode that enables only one (location-dependent, e.g. space stations) slot for a wipeable and non-recoverable save, thereby making the player's send-off into the Great Unknown permanent, would be cool.
One might lust after wiring a big red "eject" button into the DIY console to relive the days of Tekki. Opens up funny possibilities too, e.g. eject from shot up junker, get beamed in by the scum, no monies, "Sign the deal or die!", indebted to the sharks, etc. etc.
Ah, wasn't even thinking as far as multiplayer.
Wing Commander: Standoff for example, a fangame based on Wing Commander: Prophecy's VISION engine, modified the latter's offline-only scripted simulator training scenario module (e.g. gauntlets) by tacking a simple online scoreboard on top of it. When you had a WC CIC forum account that was linked up with the game, your sim scores were sent automatically to the scoreboard hosted on their website. It had a couple of flaws, e.g. mixing the different difficulty levels, but all things considered it was a nice feature. So the only thing that's needed for that to work are a set of well-designed competitive missions/scenarios and proper anti-cheating measures, methinks.
Well, I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Nice weekend to y'all!
