I'm just testing the new system which occasionally spawns cargo pods adrift in space which may or may not contain goods the player can salvage, and had a moment which was exactly the sort of thing I was hoping the procedural elements of the game would encourage.
Thought I'd share here.
As misfortune would have it, then nearby cargo pod had a pirate lurking near it. They're not designed to be near cargo pods, this one just happened to be there. My ship was unarmed. I had to decide between risking being seen by the pirate and trying to sneak to the cargo pods, or maintain my course and risk the pod no longer being there when I came back.
I chose the latter.
