The Road to 1.0

Hi all,

We’ve just sent out a mailing list blast and released a new podcast episode where Elissa and I speak about the changes so far since Early Access launch in June, and what we’ve got left to work on between now and 1.0.

I thought it’d also be good to drop a list of upcoming changes / features in here:

• Multiplayer scenarios are being worked on and an early version of this feature shouldn’t be too far off. Yes, you’ll both be able to co-pilot the same ships in multi, but do bear in mind that it won’t be designed for that (like say Artemis).
• Contracts system needs an overhaul because of a number of bugs causing issues when you try to sell goods and have multiple contracts at once as well as some unbalanced contracts where you don’t make enough money to cover costs. We’ll address this in a future update soon.
• Piracy and more general NPC ship engagement - call authorities to a location to report pirates or smugglers or attack merchant ships to get them to drop their cargo.
• Linux version on the way
• LOTS of new content. The game has roughly 60% of the total number of stories in the game so far, and that 60% are the ones which were mechanically simpler, so the remaining extra 40% will all be much more involved and have more advanced interactions and mechanics in play.

Thanks for that. I had no idea that Steam Play was a thing until i heard the podcast. So now I’ve purchased OiS and spent double digits of hours replaying Hitman: Blood Money. And OiS too, of course, but only until it crashes when I try to return to my ship, and then I sulk for a little while

Thrilled to be playing OiS after so long! It’s absolutely superb.
