Edit: I guess I went off half-calculated, since 1.2 Gm/s appears to be faster than the speed of light. Which presents its own problems.
I’ve enjoyed Objects in Space so far but I’m perplexed by the physics oddities, which I find somewhat immersion breaking. The main one is the speed limit on my spacecraft. I at first assumed that I could accelerate arbitrarily (at my own risk), but soon noticed that my ship would never exceed 1.2 Gm/s.
(Note that I have not experimented with attaching additional engines or what have you; that however should really only affect the acceleration of a craft, not its maximum speed in a vaccuum, which would be c.)
This is extremely odd from a physics point of view and frustrating for play. The speed limit cuts off all kind of tactical behaviors that should be possible.
The total absence of gravity is also a physics oddity that frequently intrudes on my consciousness while playing, but it is less irritating than the arbitrary speed limit.
Any chance that the speed limit is on its way out?
