Objects in Space came up in my youtube feed a couple of weeks back, and I liked it immediately. A few days ago - and many hours of videos later - I went and actually bought it. First game I’ve paid for since KSP at version 0.21 btw. I am several hours into my first story save and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I felt especially good about myself when I found a better sensor suite for less than I got selling the stock one at Lago before I even undocked for the first time! I spent the difference on a grappling arm and felt considerably less smart after I realised I haven’t really had a use for the grappler and because I spent my money on it I had to sell a battery to get by. (I could have taken up a loan too but the thought never occurred to me…)
There’s only one thing I would like to have had that wasn’t there: More choice for my starting ship. The Ceres III is easy and balanced starting ship. I don’t think it needs much if any tweaking. As a veteran Free Trader I would have taken something that left significantly more cash in pocket - into the five digits preferably - even if considerably harder to operate. An option like that would allow the player to get faster into the story missions but balance it out with needing to run the ship with considerably more thought. Right now I feel I have missed some bits because I could not get a jump drive fast enough.
Also for a future playthrough the idea of having to take out a loan to have the Remora re-registered intrigues me. Especially the need to rely on solars if you want a jump drive feels (very) challenging in a good way. That would definitely be the hardcore option.
Anyway just my way to say hello. To quote a favourite: Fly safe!
