If you were doing a minimalist sort of control system (which I plan to at some point - I love our controls but they’re not very practical to lug out every time you want to play!) I think I’d use cut down versions of the two small panels shown in the middle of the schematics here: http://objectsgame.com/the-controllers/blueprints-schematics/
Either on two smaller panels or one larger one, I’d have two sections - helm and weapons.
Helm
- RCS CW/CCW & RCS stop
- main engine burn/stop (we use toggle switches with lights)
- EMCON
- reactor on/off
Weapons
- tube selection (1-6)
- spin up
- fire
Plus LED indicators for most of those states.
Buttons like ‘cancel/spin-down’ on weapons and ‘full stop’ on the helm control might also be useful.
Depends how minimalist you wanted to go, I guess. We found those sets of buttons were the most commonly used, though.
