Ahead of the Scenarios Update, we wanted to forewarn you about some of the big changes coming to engineering.
All modules and components have been re-balanced, so ships in your old save games will likely handle quite differently after the update.
Here’s how it’ll work:
Each component brand has its own strengths, so if you want to optimise your ship for stealth, power, durability or performance, it’s easier than ever. These are the brands and what they’re best for:
Arakaki: Best performance enhancement
Elander: Lowest emissions
Harris-Wilson: Lowest power consumption
Octan: Second-lowest emissions and reasonable price
Ventarii: Second-strongest and reasonable price
Xiao Sa: Strongest
In addition to this, you’ll now be able to scrap components from your engineering inventory, move modules around when docked, move components directly from one slot to another, keep two modules open at once for speedy repairs, have multiple EmCon configurations in the power room and view more than 8 modules at a time there.
Additionally, time compression has been re-worked so that it happens more quickly, cuts back to 1x speed less often and no longer occupies the centre of the nav map.
On top of this, there are the new scenarios coming. These are 17 new scenarios across 5 new game modes.
Defence: Protect a space station against an unknown kamikaze ship and its aggressive escorts.
Stealth: See if you can navigate treacherous waters completely undetected.
Convoy Attack: Several ships are escorting a transport vessel and it cannot reach its destination in one piece.
Escape: Huge numbers of enemies are between you and your destination. Can you get there without being destroyed?
Survival: The whole fleet is being thrown at you - can you survive for just one hour without your ship being destroyed?
You can check it out early on the beta track NOW if you’re super keen (let us know how you feel about the balancing, changes and scenarios) while we keep polishing it ahead of release in about 48 hours.
All the best, everyone, and thanks to all of you for your feedback, patience and kind words as we keep building the game!
